For the life of me – This Beautiful Republic
What do You see in me?
I’m a leper not a king
A mess that’s undeserving of Your name
I’ve disappointed You
Like a rose that never blooms
Failing to display my heart to You
There is hope. We can be fixed.
God, life, people, music, and a humble trainwreck of colourful ponderings
What do You see in me?
I’m a leper not a king
A mess that’s undeserving of Your name
I’ve disappointed You
Like a rose that never blooms
Failing to display my heart to You
Switchfoot – Circles
i know i’ve shared this song before.
but i’m sharing it again. so there.
Divine Guidance
Matthew 26:17-19
On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you?”
“As you go into the city,” he told them, “you will see a certain man. Tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your house.’”
So the disciples did as Jesus told them and prepared the Passover meal there.
you know, i always try to imagine what i read in the bible, how it would play out today.
and more often than not, people act and react the same way last time as today.
so here is Jesus giving some instructions to his disciples.
yea basic stuff. normal stuff.
expected and not surprising to be doing office boy work.
but did u notice that Jesus’ instruction was SO VAGUE.
i checked online for a few different bible translations,
and in all of it, Jesus said “certain man”.
you know, my mentor and leader will KILL me if i gave such an instruction to my helpers or people serving in ministry under me.
go find a certain man.
to to the city to somebody.
oh yes. it will quite certainly be him.
funnily enough. they get the right guy. and the job gets done. prim and proper.
this reminds me of a pastor guest speaker for our church last weekend.
an uncle and his son-in-law-to-be (both awesome people) went to the airport to pick the pastor up.
so the uncle went from to the arrival hall to wait while the son-in-law waited in the car.
uncle waited and waited.
then later he realised that he had missed the pastor who had already made his way to the car and was waiting for uncle.
this you may think is not really a weird story. right?
well. the thing is, the pastor had NO idea how the car looked like.
in fact, i dont think he even knew that the son-in-law was coming along.
son-in-law doesnt know the pastor either.
only the pastor and the uncle would recognise each other.
how did this happen?
hmmmm
this also reminds me of prayer.
there are many times when people pray for me, and they pray for exactly the thing that im facing.
or it may be a prayer of revelation. exactly the right word for the right time.
coincidence?
how? i didnt tell this person what i was going through.
many many times when I, yes poor-old-weak-not-so-clever me, prayed for people, they would start gushing tears.
and later they would thank me for praying for them, or giving them a word of confirmation, or reminding them of God’s love, or, well, just the right word at the right time.
do i act as if “aww no problem, im so smart”?
NO. i had no idea what they are going through.
yet. God used me.
i think its divine wisdom.
something that only God can help us with.
no way will we know the right thing to DO or SAY in some situations.
but yet, we DO and SAY the right thing at the right time.
that, my friends, is called God’s handiwork.
(its amazingly fun to be part of this actually)
GOOD NEWS!
we can all tap into this area.
how?
if you reread the portion of scripture above,
it kind of breaks into three parts.
1. They asked Jesus.
2. Jesus answered
3. They acted.
ACTED? is there such a word?
anyways point 3 is the MOST important.
listening and ACTION.
“So the disciples did as Jesus told them”
wow. simple as that? really?
lets try it out, and YOU tell ME if it really is that simple.
lets learn to trust the divine leading of the Holy Spirit.
we already asked Jesus to guide us (#1).
God gave us his instructions (#2).
now we just let go of our fears and doubts (#3) and MOVE forward.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
This next one isn’t as old haha
Blindside – Our love saves us
Some Of Us Bloggers Like To Talk Lots Of Philosophy
Matthew 19:2
…Large crowds followed him there, and he healed their sick…
this verse is so out of the blue.
if you read the verse before verse 2, and the verses after verse 3,
you’ll notice that verse two didnt really fit in.
it’s like meant to be a separate story.
yet, i bet most people wont even notice.
why?
well, because thats just Him.
thats just what He does.
so normal.
all over the books of the gospel you see people just following Him around, listening, or getting healed.
you know, i personally have a desire to be like Jesus.
but, no one follows me around (that would be freaky).
i’m even afraid to pray for healing sometimes, because of the fear that the person won’t receive the healing that I asked for.
I need to change my mindset.
Lord, give me the wisdom and knowledge to say the right things at the right time. Lord, teach me to see the needs of the people. Lord, help me to love those around me. Lord, help me to have courage to do the right thing. Lord, I want my heart to beat in sync with Yours. I want to be sensitive to Your spirit and Your movement. I want to be more like You, Jesus. That is the desire of my heart.
Today we have here in our midst the famous ELY!
*Entrance music*
*Clap clap clap*
Hi, Ely how do you do today?
Good. Thank you.
Okay, today we’ll play a game. You okay with that?
What game?
I’ll start by asking you one question. Then you answer. And after that you get to ask me a question too. Ready?
Okay ready.
Whats your favourite colour?
White. Whats yours?
Uhhh… Pink… or Purple… or…. Giraffe. Try not to repeat my questions BAH. Whats the movie that made you cry the most in your life?
Titanic and A Walk To Remember. How do you feel today?
I’m feeling very good. Thank you for joining us today. Whats two major differences between boys and men?
Maturity and uhh I dunno. Why do you ask me this question?
Wow, because I want my viewers to know from a lady’s perspective. What’s two major differences between girls and women?
Duhh, maturity and their figure. Do you like women or girls?
Both. Since your birthday is coming up, what would be the most surprising gift to get you?
I would say, a nice dress or maybe tonnes of chocolate in a big box. Why are you laughing?
Because that was kind of a trick question. Now you’re gonna be Expecting it. Not surprising anymore. HAHAHA. Okay back to business. What is the most important quality that a mom should strive to have?
Good cooking skills, fair judgement, loving, and cute. Yes. A mom has to be cute so that her husband won’t get bored of her. Like duhh you don’t want to talk to a boring person for the rest of your life. So bad oh me. Okay I’ll ask you, what is the most important quality that a husband should have?
God lover. That way, he learns to love his wife perfectly the way God wants. I guess…… Hmmmmm. My turn. If you could time-travel, which year or time period would you like to experience and why?
When I was in my moms womb, because I want to see how happy they are to have me. And if my dad is treating my mom well. If you are given a choice, would you like to be a girl or a boy?
Ummmmmm. I’m not sure. I haven’t been a girl before so I can’t really judge which I would have preferred. But, I’d say a boy. Because, I get to be more carefree and get away with it. And because I’m less dependent. Like I can take bus or go places without a guardian. Oh Oh Oh. And I get to take care of girls. That always feels good. Green eyes or Blue eyes?
I’ll go for green eyes. Brown eyes or black eyes?
Unfair! That was my question. Okay… Ummm…. Brown. Why green eyes?
Because it’s hot when a guy or girl has green eyes. If you can choose one person to shut up, who shall it be and why?
……………………….. OH! I was going to say some of those annoying useless youtube vloggers who teach bad lessons to the world. But I’ll change it to…. The Devil! Ahhhh. That would be nice. Because, you know why. Right? Anyways, next question. What does your dream house look like?
A white wooden house… with a nice design… and there’s a big beautiful garden… with lots of white roses and white daisies… umm… a nice husband… with a son and a daughter… playing around the garden… oh and my room ceiling can be opened to see the moon and stars… there will be two brown fluffy dogs… and in my kitchen I would like to have a fridge in a lift kind of way so that when you are upstairs, you can just press the button and it will go up and you can get the food from there. You know, I love food. But I don’t want my daughter and son to be fat though. Ooops sorry, you didn’t ask me about the family thing right? I was just kinda excited. Haha. Would you like to be an artist?
I’ve considered being an actor before. Inspired by Jim Carey. Honestly. But… I don’t really like the limelight. Also I’ve considered being a musician… Like a real musician getting paid to play… I did have a band with a group of my close friends. We made awesome music. Still yet to be finished and published. If ever that time came. Hehehe. Last question from me. Whats the most romantic thing you’ve done for somebody of the male species?
I bought a ring and I carved our name on the ring and I made a scrapbook about our story. Like how we met and ended up being together. That was on our monthsary. Yeah. I was just that kinda typical girl that, you know, would do this kinda girly stuff. I think it’s very romantic. Because the me now, I don’t think i would do this, ’cause it’s kinda funny and embarrassing. But I wouldn’t mind to do that though, in the future? Okay, last question from me to you, imagine if you have a girlfriend, and it’s a long distance relationship, and tomorrow is her birthday, and you’re supposed to write a letter to her. What would the content be?
I would talk about her amazingness. The End. Hahaha. Wow.
I was expecting you to reply in a letter kind of way you know hahaha. Sigh. Aaron you disappoint me.
I knew that’s what you wanted. And I knew you would end with a question like that. But it was fun. Thanks for coming on this show.
No problem. I want you to invite me more. Nahh. Maybe you should play this game with a guy. Should be fun.
I don’t know how to respond to that. Anyways. Now we know each other better, and the world knows you better. Thank you so much. I had a lot of fun. Lets give her two rounds of applause! It’s ELY! Thank you for tuning in everyone! You can LIKE this post in the FB Like button below. And if you have enjoyed this as much as I did, or have any ideas for me, just leave a comment below. Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.
“The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’
“‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed.
“‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.
“‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’”
Then, leaving the crowds outside, Jesus went into the house. His disciples said, “Please explain to us the story of the weeds in the field.”
Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed. The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one. The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.
“Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!
This was my devotion today.
i hope you understand the main point.
but something i found interesting was that God allowed the weeds to be there.
God allows troubles and adversities in our lives.
really ka?
would God allow cancer?
would God allow tsunamis?
hmmm.
most famous question in the world: Does God actually Love us?
i just had an argument with one of my most valued friend.
and i hate arguing with her because i love the friendship that we have.
why does God allow misunderstanding?
why does God allow the devil to put evil thoughts into our minds?
why doesnt He just take away troubles and problems?
He can right? He can do anything!
but the harvester said “you’ll uproot the wheat if you do”
so i guess that without trouble
we will learn nothing in life.
we will not grow.
we will die.
God wants us to grow.
into the perfect being that we have been created to become.
to my dear friend.
i hope i will be forgiven.
i do not want to be conformed to the plans of the enemy and let this contiune.
i’m sorry.
