Prayer For Youth

I’ve been married for 8 months!

Can you believe it?!

We’re currently going through an Alpha Youth Course. And it’s great, because of the great discussions and life changing lessons. Most importantly, we see God’s children being blessed. Both newer and older Christians. Here’s a great prayer to pray for them.

Eph 1:15-23

Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom

15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding[c] being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what isthe exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

2017 Is Pretty Great So Far

Blogging doesn’t take long. I hope I’ll be doing it more often this year. Yes!

New years eve was fun (though I needed to go to work in the morning). I had a great cha shao fan. Remember this shop’s name and try it if you have the chance! I don’t mind having this every year for my birthday.

New years day was fun! Seriously. First thing to happen during new years: Joey blinked, and then said “wah didn’t see you since last year”

Other adventures and updates to come

Great Day Today

12 June 2016. Sunday.
Everything was super awesomesauce today. Thank You God.
Joined a great 8.30am bible study. Had group discussion activity with my parents and Joey’s parents and a few others.
My grandmother joined church!
Worship was awesome pawsome. The new song was super metal. I like.
Girlfriend sat with me in church again. Reunited. Finally.
Preaching was really deep. Why did Jesus teach the Lord’s Prayer that way? Uncle Kee compared it with how the selfish man would pray. Super good self evaluation test.
Great prayer at the end of the service. I really felt God was present and breaking and restoring hearts.
Super duper good awesome kick atas powerful wonderful good job to joey, shen and robert for encouraging and motivating our PowerHouse ministry leaders. We need more heart to heart talks like this. 💪
Nice lunch spent by my grandmother. Nice yummy man tou.
Fun time helping my grandmother bring her phone to Maxis centre and a phone shop to solve two big problems. Joey and my grandmother really connected during this time. They have super a lot of common interests that does not interest me at all. Haha. I love them. Joey helped my grandmother a lot and my grandmother is so impressed by Joey. Looks like she gives her approval stamp.
I  stir fried a vegetable dish. After so long! Not only do I still have my wrist kung fu, but more importantly no one died from eating my vege.
Great and fun dinner at my house also. With Joey and my grandmother too.
Then safe and fun journey sending grandmother and Joey home.
And had a wonderful discussion with Joey about life and being a leader and helping each other grow. She really loves me la. We prayed for each other. I really feel God is so real and keep giving us so much grace. He is too good.
Finally, I blogged!! It’s been too long my dear online public dusty old diary. I deserve a clap.
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention this pic. This is my current whatsapp profile pic.
And also a marketing scheme to get you to read this post.

But for reals, God is too good. It has been a great day. And I pray and have faith for an even better Monday!

In Regards To The Anniversary Of Ivan’s Birth

Ivan. I’ve known this dude since the beginning of 1998 (I think). So it’s been 18 years.

I’m glad to have kept in contact with him. I’ve seen him grow a lot. He’s quite different from 18 years ago. Taller.

So to write this post, I’m gonna ask myself: what are some things that I remember most about Ivan?

Hmmmmm. One thing is that there was this once when we were at his house, we were playing with the skateboard, and I wanted to skate down a downslope. The skateboard went forward, but I didn’t. I fell on my butt bone. And that was one of my most painful experiences of my life. I think I couldn’t sit properly for at least two weeks.

Also, we once made short comics with his toys and a camera.

Thirdly, I remember he would lose the game very frequently when he was around Jeremy and I.

Not only that, we could really chat for a long time. I think it’s cuz we see life quite similarly. And have kind of a similar set of beliefs and principles.

What else can I remember? I’ve had lots of adventures with Ivan. Especially when Jeremy’s around haha.

To Ivan, thanks for being one of my closest buddies! Here’s to more adventures and fun together. Always grow and be as Christ-like as possible!

Happy birthday!

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

TeenStreet 2014 Malaysia

1489197_10152537972422205_2092896486246353755_n

So a few days ago, I came back from a camp called Teenstreet Malaysia! It’s called that cuz it was held in Malaysia. Amaze-balls! I went with about 20+ teens and leaders from my church. Can you see me? I’m the guy in red. It’s a camp for teenagers aged 13-17. If you’re older, like me, you’ll have to join as service team or a coach. You don’t get LESS than a normal participant though, trust me. This was my fourth Teenstreet. Wow. The first one I went to was ten years ago!

So this year, the youth ministry of my church decided the youth needed to invest into the lives of those less fortunate. Where could we go? And what could we do? And for who? Well, that was easily answered. Why not teach our youth to invest in our own nation? Since we already do pray for God to do great things for Malaysia, and we believe the prophesies that it will start with the local church. So, let’s bless the local church. The sad fact is, that the churches in the city is rich in resource, and the church in villages are barely surviving. Pastors are quitting from being a full-time pastor because they can’t support their family. But of course, we can’t totally solve that problem. Let’s do things a little at a time: a little opportunity, and a little encouragement. Of course, it ended up not being just a little.

For 2014, we decided on one big end year goal: Raise enough funds to fully sponsor some of the interior teens to Teenstreet camp which would be held in December.  Camp Fee and transportation would cost about RM700+ per person. How much money could our 30+ teenagers raise? We didn’t know. So this year, the teens from my church started the fund raising. They sold cookies, and an assortment of food for lunch after church services. And funds also came in through different connections. By the end of it, we had enough to sponsor 16 teens from the interior! That’s a lot of money! God is pretty crazy. I never imagined we could raise this much.

Then, we hit another problem: English. Teenstreet camp is basically fully held in English. And a lot of teens from the interior have poor grasp of English. We saw this as an opportunity, of course. We held one camp for one group in the interior. Basically to get to know them more, and also to do a bit of English workshop. Then, since we were going to have our own annual Youth Camp right here in Sabah, we also invited them to join us. The reason we asked them to join our youth camp is so that they get to experience what Teenstreet is like (we did our youth camp with some Teenstreet program and styles), and to get them exposed to communicating in English. And because we can only bring a limited number of teens to Teenstreet at the end of the year, we told the interior teens that we would pick only the best in english to sponsor for Teenstreet. We hoped that through exposure from our youth camp, they would be motivated to improve their English as well.

Overall, it was a good experience. It wasn’t easy. Lot’s of hiccups along the way. Organizing and contacting parents was difficult as some areas in the interior didn’t have good phone signal. And also because the people we sponsored weren’t from the same place.

In the end, it was exciting! Good experience for them. Lot’s of them never flown on a plane or slept with air conditioning. And most of all, God really blessed and spoke to them. For us, travelling with a lot of teenagers can be very tiring. But it well worth it. Serving God’s people is definitely a great joy and fulfillment. I pray that the seed we planted in them will grow into greatness.

To PowerHouse: See what God can use you to do!

Two-Update Update

Obligatory Update

Hey, came back from a camp called TeenStreet. It’s organised by OM for teens all around the world to get to know God more closely and to find out how fun relevant the Word of God actually is. And this one that I attended is the one held in Malaysia wooohooo. It was great fun.

I learnt a lot. Even though I went as a coach, I felt like I went as a participant. The leadership training was especially good. I learned so much about myself.

One interesting part is where we have to change negative views of ourselves into positive ones. One negative view of myself is that I’m lazy. I tell myself this quite often. Then with your friend, you’re supposed to change it into a true positive view, not just use the opposite word. My group member called Nathanael changed it for me to ‘responsible’. So from now on, I can’t say “I’m lazy”, I have to tell myself “I’m responsible.”

We did ALOOOOOT more than just that just for your information. I may share more about it next time.

P.S. I WILL for sure share more about it if you ask for it. Hehe. Or if you’d like me to talk about any other topic.

Non-Obligatory Update

Did you know that I’m a guy? Being a guy, I like girls. I’ve been attracted to a lot superstars. Let me name a few: Aya Ueto, Emma Watson, Emma Stone, Chloe Moretz, Ana Kendrick, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Lawrence, and others, to say the least. Recently, I’ve met a new superstar, got to spend some time with her. It was pretty awesome.

She’s got bright eyes. She’s pretty. She’s cooler than me. She’s super funny. She’s got a heart-melting smile. She loves God. She’s kind, polite, open, honest, compassionate. She even talked to me! *CHOKE*

Whoaaaaaaa… Aaron stop. Calm down. Breath. Okay.

I guess what I’m saying is, I met another superstar to add to my list. But remember a few posts ago I talked about the 5 Love Languages? Okay, maybe not so few blog posts ago. And I said my primary is Time. Those names I gave up there. I spent NO time with them at all. See what I’m trying to say? No? Good.

Okay, I’m very uncomfortable writing about this here where people may see it. HAHA. But I guess I had to get it out of my system. I hope you don’t understand or try to understand what I just wrote.

Good bye.

Best Interview Ever. Best Topic Ever. Best Jeremy Ever.

Ivan Soo: Hello and welcome to another episode of the Aaron and Ivan talking about Jeremy show. My name is Ivan and this is your host, AAAAAAAAAAAARONNNN and this is our topic, JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJEREMY and this is the game, which we all just lost, thanks to your host, AAAAAAAAAAAARONNNN then we terus start
Aaron Heng: Hi all. Thanks for inviting me
Ivan Soo: No problem. thanks for being on your show
Aaron Heng: So who gets to start by asking a question?
Ivan Soo: You do. So what’s our topic today?
Aaron Heng: Jeremy. Who is he?
Ivan Soo: He’s not not Jeremy. What does he look like?
Aaron Heng: He doesn’t look like most Jeremy’s in the world. But he does look like ONE of them. You think he’s okay with that?
Ivan Soo: I think..he should reconsider. Where is he right now?
Aaron Heng: He’s in his own world. It’s called Beijing. Does he like it there?
Ivan Soo: yes and no. what colour is his colour?

Aaron Heng: Green…ish…yellowish….blue….. with red polka dots. What is his favourite colour?

Ivan Soo: I think it’s green. is he wearing shoes right now?
Aaron Heng: I hope not. How many hairs does he have to lose to be bald?
Ivan Soo: One more than he has on his head now. Do you miss him?
Aaron Heng: Nah. Yeah, probably. What are Jeremy’s best subjects in secondary school?
Ivan Soo: I’m not sure, English and Maths, wild guess. when is his next trip back?
Aaron Heng: Chinese Wild Year. I hope he can come back for my birthday though. That’ll be cool. I hope you come back for my birthday too! Yaaaayyyyyy. Okay. Time for the serious questions. What makes Jeremy laugh?
Ivan Soo: Things that he finds funny. How many serious questions do you have?
Aaron Heng: Depends. What attribute of the opposite gender attracts Jeremy the most?
Ivan Soo: Probably the most opposite one. Which one is that?
Aaron Heng: That which is what it is, which is that which is, for which whichever is for it as it is. Why do you ask me such tough questions about Jeremy?
Ivan Soo: Because I had such a great childhood. So what’s the last memory of Jeremy you have?
Aaron Heng: I was chatting with him the other day about climbing mount Kinabalu. If Jeremy had to choose one elemental bending for a day, which would it be?
Ivan Soo: Only a day? I’m not sure but i’d get him to choose Earth. What’s my last memory of Jeremy?
Aaron Heng: You found out I was chatting to Jeremy the other day about climbing mount Kinabalu. How did you two turn out to be best buds?
Ivan Soo: Let’s see. it just happened just like that. What should I ask next?
Aaron Heng: About how long I’ve known him. How long have you known him? And how long have you known me?
Ivan Soo: Hey that’s cheating
Ivan Soo: I’ve known him..uh many years
Ivan Soo: I’ve known you about as long as I’ve known him
Ivan Soo: What’s his next hairstyle?
Aaron Heng: A birdy once told me he’s going goldilocks. Like totally dyed golden hair made into dreadlocks. How many countries has he visited?
Ivan Soo: wow. i’m not sure how many he has visited, but it’s got to be quite a few.
Ivan Soo: where would he ideally like to live?
Aaron Heng: In a house. Underwater. Near a cave. Of an island. Far from humanity. Close to sashimi. Where did he get his accent?
Ivan Soo: He got his accent from the American Americans. How many phones has he used up to now?
Aaron Heng: Mannnnnn, three. I bet, we’re like disappointing him with all our accurate answers. What annoys him the most?
Ivan Soo: ummmmmmm
Ivan Soo: literal incorrect use of the word literally. like, literally.
Ivan Soo: where do you think he’ll get married?
Aaron Heng: I literally think he’ll get married on earth. Who do you think he’ll marry?
Ivan Soo: I think he’ll literally marry a very nice girl
Ivan Soo: does he like to travel? literally?
Aaron Heng: He physically likes to travel. If Jeremy was to be super famous in ten years time, what will he be famous for?
Ivan Soo: He would be famous for inventing a machine that automated the switch between 2d and 3d projection, having stolen the idea from his good friend Ivan who came up with it while doing something for Jeremy’s own birthday 10 years ago. They will have never spoken since, but still remain close friends to this day.
Ivan Soo: How many children does he want?
Aaron Heng: As many as none. Do you think he should keep his goatee?
Ivan Soo: Innocent until proven guiltee. Jeremy’s shirt. what’s the first shirt that comes to mind?
Aaron Heng: Green. Jeremy’s hair; what’s the first thought that comes to mind?
Ivan Soo: Yong Tofu. Koh the facestealer. What’s the first face that comes to mind?
Aaron Heng: The facestealers face. What is Jeremy’s favourite genre in games?
Ivan Soo: Mystery/puzzle. I hope. Who is his favourite musician?
Aaron Heng: Linkin Park. I hope. How does Jeremy cope with stress?
Ivan Soo: That’s what he has us for. Does he really want no children?
Aaron Heng: Nah, I have no clue. I bet he would like kids one day. Is he really an inventor?
Ivan Soo: He’s a secret inventor that I don’t know about. Does he know we’re doing this?
Aaron Heng: We’re a secret interview that he doesn’t know about. How long does it take Jeremy to finish the Rubiks Cube?
Ivan Soo: 3 minutes? It takes less time if he was willing to use a hammer. How long are his fingernails?
Aaron Heng: Short. Unless he doesn’t cut them. What is his favourite movie?
Ivan Soo: favourite movie of all time? The upcoming spongebob movie. what’s the last thing he told both of us?
Aaron Heng: He hurt his ankle. What would he like for Christmas this year?
Ivan Soo: World peace. and better internet. How have you been?
Aaron Heng: Been sick for almost a week. Flu, cough. Quite bad this time. Been having a sexy voice for the past few days. But also hard to breath. Okay, second last question: Which planet would Jeremy like to visit, and why?
Ivan Soo: He would like to visit Mars, because his dear friend Ivan would like a millennium supply of Mars bars. So if that was the second last question, is this the last question?
Aaron Heng: Unfortunately, it is literally the last. Thank you for having me on my show.
Ivan Soo: No problem, always a pleasure.
