Youth Leaders Meet Up

So last night we had a yam cha / sharing / prayer session with some youth leaders in kk.

It was awesome.

There was Kenneth from LBC. He organised it. Kenny from Calvary Charismatic Church. Reuben and Ryan from Charis Youth BCCM. Ganesh from LBC as well. Eric from Eklektos. Me and Joey. And Athena from Maranatha Church.

I think the most important part of last night was hearing each others struggles and finding out we are not alone. Some of our struggles are the same. Some have already faced and overcome what some are facing now (excited to help each other!). Some are totally opposite (eg. Some have too much of a family feeling that there is no respect for leadership. While some are struggling to make everyone feel like its a family). The best thing about hearing each other out is realising we are not alone. And we understand each other.

I’m excited to meet up again. And I hope more leaders in KK find the time and passion to join us.

The whole night yesterday I just keep having the feeling that God’s hand was in our meeting, bringing us together, giving us the same passion for each other.

Thank You God.

If God Loves Us, He WILL Let Us Go Through Tough Times

As I was praying for Joey, I asked Him to just stop and fix a situation she’s in. I know He can. He’s the Master Fixer. He can heal anything. He can stop anything from happening. And He can make anything happen. It’s entirely up to Him.

But He reminded me that He let’s us go through tough times and tight spots because He loved us.

He said He did it to protect us and strengthen us. What??… Isn’t that the opposite? I know He’s the Master Protector and Master Strengthener, but I forget He uses tough and bad situations as He pleases! Okay I admit, they’re probably more effective.

Tough times are like vaccines pumped into our lives.

He’s in control just like the doctor control’s the dosage. He has our situation under control no matter what.

He tells us it will hurt and it might even leave a permanent scar. He doesn’t lie about it being just an ant bite. He knows what a punctured skin and what scars feels like.

He knows our body will be able to take it and overcome it, thus effectively be immune to it.

So He tells us to just hold on. You may feel a bit sick from it, but keep on keeping on. You can take the punches.

This Month Just Marched Right In

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Less Than Three But More Than Words

Proverbs 31:30 (NKJV)  Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

(Don’t kill me for sharing this pic. Or for this romantic thing I’m going to say)

Joey~

I always thank God for you. You’ve been such a big blessing in my life. You always support me. And you’re a great companion. (and a great caretaker) (and now I’m fat)

Continue to be passionate for God. Continue to be passionate for the less privileged. You’ll be a super woman for God one day. I really believe that.
May your bond with God grow stronger and may He bless you more and more in every way. Because when He blesses you, I’m blessed as well.
Happy valentines day Joey

2017 Is Pretty Great So Far

Blogging doesn’t take long. I hope I’ll be doing it more often this year. Yes!

New years eve was fun (though I needed to go to work in the morning). I had a great cha shao fan. Remember this shop’s name and try it if you have the chance! I don’t mind having this every year for my birthday.

New years day was fun! Seriously. First thing to happen during new years: Joey blinked, and then said “wah didn’t see you since last year”

Other adventures and updates to come

Not A List Of Do-Not’s

Ephesians 4:25-32

25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. 26 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil. 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:17-24

17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Galatians 5:16-25

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

These are just a few verses that spoken to Joey and I today. So I just thought I might share it here and hope it will speak to you too. Might be a timely word for some of you out there as well.

The reason why these verses spoke out to me is because Joey’s first comment was  “This is serious”.

That kinda jolted me awake. Because it made me realize I was just reading it as a list of negatives. Don’t this and don’t that. I was trying to think why is this bad, why is that bad. Making my own conclusions. WITHOUT taking to heart that it was about me. I was being a student learning about the sin without being a child learning about sin in my life.

I wasn’t putting my life under the spotlight and evaluating my actions, words, thoughts, and motives. I wasn’t repenting. I didn’t realize how seriously this scripture was speaking to me. It was serious.

Okay God. I repent. I was not meant to walk in the flesh. Guide me and lead me towards your path, your works and your character. I was meant to walk in the Spirit.

Happy Birthday Joey Less Than Three

Joey Joey Joey! (Nice photo kan. Don’t kill me.)

I’m your second biggest fan! Your Biggest fan is God la of course. And as a fan, I really have so much I love about you.

(Warning: Take a deep breath)

I love watching you (creepy kan). I love listening to your talking voice. I love your singing. I love your advice. I love your love for everyone. Especially your compassion for the emotionally and physically needy. I love that you love to share. I love your confidence when there is a problem that needs to be fixed. I love (and also don’t love) your perfectionism. I love your hugs and support. I love to see you cry because it speaks of your attitude towards God and His people. I love finding comfort in holding your hands. I love to hear your laugh. And I love your lame jokes. I love that you’re so smart (you’ve taught me a lot of common and uncommon sense) (where do you keep all these information?). I love all your talents. I love it when you pray. You are so connected to God. I love when you get messages from God. That’s really a special connection you have. I love that you don’t reject me when you know my weaknesses, but rebuke and teach me and also follow up on my progress (you do get angry sometimes, which is also good). I love that you try to change yourself when others (or I) rebuke you. I love that you get excited for the right things. And best of all. I love that you love me.

This journey has not been easy for me and I think it’s been even harder for you. But I know for sure God’s hand is on you. And on me. And I do believe He’ll be the one to hold us together. And we’ll have the happiest ending in Heaven with Jesus for eternity (that’s a long time)!

Joey, please continue to love the Lord. No matter what. Because I will fail you. And you will fail yourself. But God won’t fail ever. Your obedience is all He asks for. Be obedient to God. Not to me. Not to yourself. Only to God. Whatever you do, bring Glory to Him.
I think God is so proud of you now actually. But you can still do more. You can still be more. As long as we learn to have less of us and more of Him. As long as we walk in His path. Then we’ll surely see Spiritual Growth and Perfection.

Lord take Joey again in your arms. Wrap her in Your love. Flood her with Your grace. Fill her with Your Spirit. Drench her in Your beauty and glory. May she always have great Christ-like Character; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,  gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. And Lord input on her great Christ-like Attitude; being kindly affectionate, delighting in honouring others, not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, always serving the Lord, joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.

Thank You Lord for birthing this wonderfully made creature and sharing her with the world.

And all those who love Joey say…

Amen!!!
